Dirty Thirty - Weekend Two

This weekend was collaborated by my awesome hubby! He planned so much for so long and it went off without a hitch (as far as I'm concerned)! Scott told me last Wednesday that we were going to Chicago for the weekend. My parents had 'fake' planned to come to Dexter so I was a little thrown by that announcement. So we left for Naperville Thursday night, and headed into the city on Friday afternoon. We went to dinner at De Cero. When we pulled up, I told Scott we had been there before and he would not believe me. Turns out I was right, as usual! We had actually gone to dinner there with the interview group from Rush hospital while Scott was doing his interviews for residency. After an awesome Mexican dinner, we strolled down to The Market and took the elevator up to the rooftop. I was surprised by all of the friends and family in the pictures below... Saturday morning brought my biggest surprise! Two of my sorority sisters walked into a clothing store that Scott and were in and totally shocked me! I didn't think any of them were able to make it in for the weekend but Koren and Marci did!! We went and had a late breakfast after I was done crying and screaming like a total fool in the middle of Orvis! After getting some food in the tummies we headed down Michigan Ave, took some pictures and hopped into a water taxi to Navy Pier.

Later in the evening, I thought we were heading to dinner, but was surprised to head down the steps to go on a Wendella boat ride. The Wendella tours take you up and down the Chicago River while giving you a pretty informative tour of the amazing architecture along the river. After the tour of the river, we ventured onto the lake just as the sun was setting. It was a perfect ride with some great friends that surprised me again!

Too bad Ben and Emily couldn't have nice smiles! Oh well! After the boat ride we had an adventure in Billy Goat's Tavern - this place was the source of the 'Cheeseborger" SNL skit. We all had double "cheeseborgers" - as if we had a choice in the matter! After Billy Goat's, the family members headed home the rest of us went out for wine and dessert. First stop was Quartino's, after that Rock Bottom rooftop, with the finale at Pops champagne bar. Ahh...what a weekend!
