This entry is going to be long - because of pictures. Don't worry; I am not a person of too many words. At least I don't think I am. No comments please. It was another beautiful day again in February. I am sure we'll get slapped in the face with snow and bitter cold again, but we are taking in all the warm air has brought to us. Ben and I were outside for about 2 hours today. We went for a nice long walk. He actually walked for about one mile without complaint. I have realized that the stroller is not for him. With age, all two years, he loves being the independent explorer. We saw the swans, pictured below, taking a nap on the start of our walk. When we were on our final stretch, we noticed they were up and at it. He was in awe. I captured some great photos of them - Ben and the swans.
Being excited about seeing the swans may seem silly, but it means that the temperatures are warm enough to bring them back to "their" pond. This pond is right in front of our house, so we have noticed they have not been around this winter. It has been so bitterly cold in Michigan that even our winter birds couldn't hang around. Our pond was constantly frozen. It was also so nice to see water - not ice. Below, the 'duck couple,' decided to join the swans. (There are pictures of cute kids after the ducks, I promise.)
And last, but not least, was Ben. He was in awe of the swans, or as he said, "Whoa Mommy!" I told him to smile for me, which you'll see in the middle picture. The third picture just shows how captivated he was by these swans. They were huge and majestic. I forget how large these birds are until I see them up close again. I am not a person who enjoys on taking pictures of animals or wildlife in general, but they looked beautiful. I hope warmer temperatures are coming your way too!
