Emily and I had a funny conversation that I have to post so I have a record of it! We were discussing something - the topic now alludes me already - but I made a comment that was a figure of speech. She didn't understand the comment I made and she asked what I had meant. I replied, "It is just a figure of speech." "What is a figure of speech?" she asked. I didn't have the brain energy to explain what a 'figure of speech' was in the context that a 4 year old would understand, so I said, "I'll explain it to you when you are a little older. It will make more sense then." So then the four year old brain came into play, "What is sense mom?" I went on to tell her when something "makes sense" it means you understand what was said. She then told me, "Mom, I have a lot of 'cents.' I'll give it all to you." I looked at her and started laughing, realizing that she meant the 'cents' in her piggy bank. Classic!
